The Small Habit That Makes a Big Difference in Real Estate (Especially When You’re Busy)

When you first start in real estate, a lot of things feel manageable.

You might have one client.

Realty World Legacy

Maybe one deal.
A few conversations happening at once.

And in that stage, small habits don’t always feel like they matter.

But they do.

Because the habits you build early need to grow with you.

A Quick Introduction

I’m Victoria Leahy, a Realtor and Director of Agent Services at Realty World Legacy.

A big part of what I focus on with agents is helping them build habits that don’t just work today — but still work when their business grows.

Because what feels “easy” with one deal can feel overwhelming with five.

The Habit Most Agents Don’t Think About

Here’s a simple one:

When you’re working on a deal with another agent, save their contact in your phone as:

Their name + the property address

Example:
“Sarah Smith – 123 Main Street”

Why This Matters (More Than You Think)

At the beginning, it might not feel necessary.

If you only have one deal happening, you probably already know what every message is about.

But fast forward a bit.

Now you have:

  • Multiple clients

  • Multiple deals

  • Multiple properties

  • Multiple agents texting and calling

And suddenly your phone looks like this:

“Hey — just checking in on this.”
“Can you confirm?”
“Quick question.”

No context.

Now you’re guessing.

When Your Business Grows, This Saves You

When you have 4–5 deals happening at once, this habit becomes a game changer.

Instead of guessing, you instantly know:

  • Which property they’re calling about

  • What conversation you’re stepping back into

  • What stage the deal is at

All from the name on your screen.

No searching.
No confusion.
No wasted time.

This Is What Scalable Habits Look Like

The goal isn’t just to build habits that work when things are slow.

It’s to build habits that still work when things get busy.

That’s the difference between:

👉 reacting to your business
and
👉 running your business

Small systems like this reduce stress, improve response time, and make you look more organized and professional.

It’s Not About the Contact Name — It’s About the System

This isn’t really about how you save a phone number.

It’s about how you think.

Strong agents build systems into everything they do — even small things.

Because those small things compound over time.

Final Thought

When you have one deal, it doesn’t feel like it matters.

When you have five, it matters a lot.

So build habits now that your future business will thank you for.

Because real estate gets easier when your systems grow with you.
